Looking to face cabin fever head on? Get out for Winter Blues weekend, Ellicottville’s first celebration weekend of the New Year, Jan. 9-10. Winter Blues weekend transforms Ellicottville’s hot spots into a hub of live music, with a focus on blues with a local flavor.

The fun kicks off Friday night with live music at several local establishments.

Head to the Gin Mill at 9 p.m. to see Chicago-style blues by the Easy Street Sliders. Soak up the friendly atmosphere and enjoy a large selection of draught beer and tasty menu items.

Check out hot blues by JJ White and the All Nighters at 9 p.m. at the all-new Armor Inn, across from the Wingate by Wyndham. While you’re there, be sure to order up some of their signature barbecue and sample their impressive selection of beers on tap.

EBC will host Generations with Olean Blues Brothers (time to be determined).

At 7 p.m., Balloons will feature the Jeff Jensen Band.

The fun continues on Saturday with another full lineup of great bands.

The Heavenly Chillbillies, combining blues, rock, country and Americana, will perform at the Gin Mill starting at 9 p.m.

See Dive House Union at the Armor Inn, starting at 9 p.m. Dive House Union combines a roots vibe, driving rhythms and melodic lines with the spontaneity and energy of a jam band.

Mojo Hand Band, combining R&B, rock and soul, will be performing at EBC, time to be determined.

Tommy Z Band, will play their rockin’ blues at Balloons, beginning at 5 p.m., and Madigan’s will host the Mick Hayes Band starting at 8 p.m.

Mark your calendars for this fun-filled weekend, and plan a night (or two!) out to hear great live music by local blues bands. It’s a great excuse to get out your dancin’ shoes and get out of the house!

As the date gets closer, be sure to check out the Ellicottville Times for a full schedule of events for Winter Blues weekend.
