Cattaraugus County residents who wish to vote in upcoming village elections on March 18 must register by March 6. Voter registration applications are available at the Board of Elections office at 207 Rock City Street, Suite 100 in Little Valley, online at, at any local post office, most government office buildings, many libraries, or your village clerk’s office.

The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot by mail is Tuesday, March 10, but voters may apply in person at any of the offices noted above through Monday, March 16.

Applicants must be 18 years of age on or before Election Day, a citizen of the U.S. and have lived in the village for at least 30 days before the election.

The villages of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Ellicottville, Gowanda, Little Valley, Portville and South Dayton all have elections on Wednesday, March 18. Polls will be open from noon until 9 p.m.

In the Village of Ellicottville, only the Village Justice position is open. Republican incumbent Jack Rogan is running unopposed for the four-year term. Voting will take place at the Ellicottville Fire Hall.
