By Joe Wright, Marketing Director & Business Development, EVGV Trail

On behalf of the entire Ellicottville–Great Valley Trail Committee, I’d like to take a moment to wish all of Ellicottville and the surrounding Cattaraugus County area a happy and safe holiday season.  Also, thank you to all who have supported and continue to support this project with your time, money, resources and other intangibles you’ve devoted to this community project as we begin to close the book on 2015 and head into an exciting 2016 for the EVGV Trail.

Personally, as I look back on 2015, I feel very fortunate to have been introduced and welcomed to Ellicottville by its business owners, residents and guests. These people truly help make this a special place to spend time.

I’ve also had the tremendous opportunity to start working alongside the dedicated people of the EVGV Trail Committee since this April.  Many of these committee members have been working on launching the Trail for more than three years.

Lastly, I’d like to thank my employer Jim Cornell, owner of the EllicottVillas, for affording me the opportunity to come work here in Ellicottville and dedicate time to the EVGV Trail and the committee to help the project along.

Congratulations to former EVGV Trail Committee member Dash Hegeman, who recently left HoliMont and Ellicottville for a position with the marketing team at Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico. Dash brought a slew of creativity and graphic design expertise to the EVGV Trail project. We wish him the best of luck as he starts a new chapter in his life at Taos.

Lastly, the EVGV Trail continues to sell its 2016 Holiday Valley discount booklet. A great holiday gift for anybody who recreates at Holiday Valley, this coupon book is good for discounts at Double Black Diamond Golf Course, Sky High Adventure Park, the Holiday Valley pool and John Harvard’s Brew House. The book retails for just $25 and is valued at more than $900. The booklet can be purchased at Holiday Valley’s Resort Services, the Ellicottville Times office, the EllicottVillas and at Mud, Sweat & Gears.  All proceeds go to help launch the EVGV Trail.

We look forward to an exciting and productive 2016 with the EVGV Trail.

About the EVGV Trail:

The Ellicottville-Great Valley Trail is a proposed 15-mile network of multi-use trails that will expand the active transportation and recreation options for Ellicottville and Great Valley residents and visitors. Like many other successful ski resort communities, Ellicottville is planning this trail network to link and expand other spring, summer, and fall programming and facilities. Mountain biking and on-road bicycling are already popular activities in the region. Multi-use trails will accommodate families, children, walkers, joggers, inline and ski skaters and others by creating a comfortable and accessible non-motorized transportation and recreation system.
