The September meeting of the East Otto Town Board was called to order at 6:00 PM by Supervisor Ann Rugg on Tuesday September 12, 2017.
A motion was made by Dave Forster and seconded by Sid Barber to approve the new town hall use application that was presented by the town clerk. Forster, Spors, Barber, Poch and Rugg were in favor. Motion carried
Highway: Tom asked the board for the ok to get bids on a new pressure washer. The igniter is bad on the current pressure washer and due to the age of it he is unable to get parts for it anymore. Ann stated she would look at the OGS website to see if any are available there. Tom would like to put an addition on the back of the highway garage for the 550. It currently is kept in cold storage next to the salt bin. He said the highway employees could do the labor.Ann told Tom to do a plan drawing with estimate and check with CEO on building codes. Tom told the board of the 2008 Peterbilt emission problems. The cost of a new 10 wheeler is approximately $225,000 and the cost of a single axle is approximately between $170,000-200,000. Dave asked about the box and plow being good enough to put on a new chassis.
Ann told the board that shared services had been ratified by all the town supervisors. She received a quote from Mega on KW cost. She told the board that Dennis Young was applying for a justice grant for exterior lighting and fire resistant file cabinets. She stated that the town’s share of second quarter sales tax is $60,250. This has increased since it is based off the town’s tax base and the town is now at 100 percent tax base.
A motion was made by Dave Forster and seconded by Sid Barber to stay with Consellation Energy until 2020. Forster, Spors, Barber, Poch and Rugg were in favor. Motion carried
Town clerk: Read a thank you card from the East Otto United Methodist Church regarding the chicken BBQ held at the town hall. Told the board of the donation received from Jim and Shirley Ellis for use of the town hall. Spoke to the Board of Elections in regards to the out dated voting machine. Read resignation letter from planning board chairman Carol Dill. Jeff Russell will finish the year as chairman. Discussion took place in regards to planning board duties and salaries.
CEO Report: Jeff completed 8 inspections, issued 4 permits issued 2 violation notices, and answered 16 phone calls. Jeff attended court for 1 violation.
Public Comment: Mark Westfall had questions regarding social security. Ann will check on this for him.
Mike Poch and Bill Spors will perform an audit on Justice Dennis Young’s books.
A motion was made by Mike Poch and seconded by Sid Barber to adjourn at 7:40 PM. Forster, Spors, Barber, Poch and Rugg were in favor. Motion carried.
