Titans’ Blecha, Grinols Added to Big 30 Football Roster

Austin Grinols and Brock Blecha, two three-year starters for the Franklinville/Ellicottville football team, join the Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic’s New York roster this week.

The 45th annual meeting of New York and Pennsylvania senior football stars is set for Saturday, Aug. 4, at Bradford High’s Parkway Field.

Blecha is the first Franklinville player named to this year’s game, while Grinols joins previously announced Ellicottville classmate Griffin Chudy on the team.

This week, the seventh release of Big 30 roster additions brings Pennsylvania and New York’s rosters to 27 players each. Joining New York are Grinols, Blecha, Olean wide receiver/cornerback Daunte Jeter and Pioneer running back/cornerback Wake Kless. Named to Pennyslvania’s roster are Otto-Eldred quarterback/middle linebacker Sawyer Drummond, Youngsville running back/outside linebacker Noah Myers, Smethport two-way tackle Brayden Southard and Coudersport quarterback/safety Jared Green.

Grinols, a 6-foot, 180-pound running back/wide receiver/safety/cornerback, said he’s attended the Big 30 game since he was a little kid and his mother and father were both a part of the game in the 1992 Classic. He plans to attend college and major in elementary education/physical education. Grinols’ favorite hobby is playing basketball with friends. His favorite NFL team is the Buffalo Bills and his favorite player is the LeSean “Shady” McCoy.

Blecha, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback/middle linebacker, plans to attend Utica College and play baseball and football while working toward his major in physical therapy.

Blecha’s athletic accomplishments include second-team all-state at quarterback in 2017, first-team all-Western New York, two-time Section 6 Class D offensive and two-time Connelly Cup nominee. He was also first-team all-state at defensive back in 2016 and team MVP in 2016 and 2017. Not just an athletic star, Blecha ranked sixth in his class of 60 with a 102.04 GPA (4.0). He said he’s honored to represent New York State with pride and play one last game of football with his “buds” one last time. His most memorable moments playing football with his teammates, and the closeness they all felt for one and other, knowing they had each other’s backs.

Blecha’s hobbies include hanging out with friends, campfires on summer nights, eating at buffets, and playing sports. His favorite NFL team is the Los Angeles Chargers and his favorite player is LaDainian Tomlinson.
