Neal R. Eddy, 84, of Route 219 passed away Sept. 26, 2014, at ECMC in Buffalo, N.Y.

He was born Jan. 8, 1930, in the Town of Mansfield, N.Y., the son of the late Lynn S. Eddy and Marguerite (McNamara) Richards.


In 1951, he married the former Marlene Nelson who survives.

Mr. Eddy was a local businessman who owned and operated many businesses including Olean Signs, Balkan Bakery, Valley Motors, Eddy’s Restaurant, Green Valley Estates, Creekview Development and the Great Valley Airport. He also enjoyed helping people start their own businesses and was always there for some advice and encouragement.

He enjoyed flying his plane in Great Valley and in Florida. He was a friend of Bill W. and loved his airplane, cars and NASCAR. Neal was truly easy to know and hard to forget.

Besides his loving wife of more than 60 years, he is survived by a son Lynn R. (Tammy) Eddy of Great Valley, N.Y.; and two daughters Marilyn (Dennis) Siperek of Great Valley, N.Y., and Jean (Thomas) Woodarek of Penfield, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren Anthony (Crissy) Galante, Patrick (Fallon Snyder) Galante; Jenna, Marla, and John Woodarek; Cameron and Brooke Eddy; and four great grandchildren Tayoni, Myla, Anthony and Luca. Also surviving is a brother, Larry Richards of Great Valley, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Leon Eddy.

Friends were welcomed at the Mentley Funeral Home in Little Valley on Sept. 30. Funeral services were held Oct. 1. Burial will be in Green Cemetery in Great Valley, N.Y.
