On Feb. 4, U12/10/8 athletes traveled to Buffalo Ski Club for a Slalom, their second race of the season.

HoliMont U12 girls took the top six spots: Francesca Ferrara finished with the gold medal, Olivia Cummings silver and Jane Rathbun bronze. Kaitlyn Turnbull took 4th, Mia Kerl 5th and Emmylu Carls 6th. Holiday Valley’s Sydney Kuder finished 8th, with teammates Sophia Goldberg and Rese Latta in 9th and 10th, respectively. HoliMont’s Carissa Dunlap placed 12th.

For U12 boys, HoliMont’s Hans Solly took home the silver, with teammates Maxwell Burget taking 3nd and Dougie Basadur 4rd. Harry Scanlon of Holiday Valley finished 5th, Liam Hamel (HO) 6th, Henery Black (HO) 8th, Gavin Weinstein (HV) 9th, Ethan Peters (HO) 10th, John Black (HV) 11th, Holden Bozek (HO) 12th, Austin Lah (HV) 14th and Beaudin Napolitano (HO) 15th. Johnathan Scarrow (HO) finished 17th, Chase Zumkehr (HO) 18th, Christian Lisowsky (HO) 19th, Nathan Belza (HO) 20th, Jack McGeachie (HO) 21st, Sage Smith (HO) 22nd and Shay Malone 23rd.

U10/8 Isabella Cummings of HoliMont walked away with the gold medal. Georgia Priestman (HO) took silver and the bronze medal went to Eniko Knezic. Payton Weinstein (HO) finished 4th, Hannah Goldberg (HV) 5th with HoliMont’s Ruby Burget, Presley Napolitano, Sophie Belza and Georgia Hewson took 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th respectively. Lilah Buitenhuis of HoliMont placed 13th, Marlena Pecora (HO) 14th, Emerson King (HO) 15th and Sadie Bruen (HO) 16th.

U10/8 Hudson Marshall of Holiday Valley found himself on top of the podium with the gold medal. HoliMont’s Avery Platt finished 2nd and Coleman Carls rounded out the podium in 3rd. Cody Preston (HO) took 5th, Jr Palmerton (HV) 6th, Harrison Bozek (HO) 7th, Milan Knezic (HO) 8th, Everett Hamel (HO) 10th, Michael McCulloch (HO) 12th, Vincent Scott (HO) 13th. Myer Bruen of HoliMont finished 15th with teammates Colin Malone, Jack Rathbun and Ashton McGeachie took 16th, 17th and 18th respectively.

U21/19/18 athletes traveled to Lake Placid, NY for the annual Winter Empire State Games this event consists of the best athletes in the state. This involved three days of competition— two Super-G, Giant Slalom and Dual Slalom.

Day One: Super G No. 1

U16 Ladies: Holiday Valley’s Lauren Thomas, Hayly Fredrickson and Logan Fredrickson swept the podium finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Sierra Cappelli (HV) took 5th, Caroline DeRose 7th and Rory Sauererisen (HV) 30th.

U21/19 Ladies: Taylor Hubert of Holiday Valley took home the silver medal. Zoe Knauss (HO) took 4th and Katherine Wojnowski (HV) 7th.

U21/19 Men: Nathan Briselden of Holiday Valley walked away with the gold. Jes Sauereisen (HV) finished 4th, Maxxon Solly (HO) 16th, Nicolas Scott (HO) 20th and William Peters (HO) 27th.Super G No. 2

U16 Ladies: Sierra Cappelli of Holiday Valley found herself on the podium with the silver medal and teammate Lauren Thomas rounded it out in 3rd. Logan Fredrickson (HV) finished 6th, Hayly Fredrickson (HV) 8th, Caroline DeRose (HV) 11th and Rory Sauereisen (HV) 30th.

U21/19 Men: Holiday Valley’s Nathan Briselden once again took gold. Jes Sauereisen (HV) finished 6th, Nicholas Scott (HO) 12th and Maxxon Solly (HO) 23rd.

Day Two Giant Slalom:

U16 Ladies: Logan Fredrickson (HV) took 4th, Sierra Cappelli (HV) 5th, Caroline DeRose 8th, Hayly Fredrickson (HV) 10th and Rory Sauereisen (HV) 28th.

U21/19 Ladies: Taylor Hubert (HV) found herself on the podium for a 3rd time finishing 3rd. Katherine Wojnowski (HV) 5th and Zoe Knauss (HO) 6th.

U12/19 Men: Maxxon Solly of HoliMont finished 5th, Nicholas Scott (HO) 8th and William Peters (HO) 17th.

Day Three Dual Slalom:

U16 Ladies: Logan Fredrickson (HV) took 1st place with teammate Lauren Thomas taking the silver home. Sierra Cappelli (HV) finished 5th and Rory Sauereisen (HV) 22nd.

U21/19 Ladies: Zoe Knauss of HoliMont went home with a 3rd place finish and Katherine Wojnowski (HV) took 5th.

U21/19 Men: Nicholas Scott (HV) finished 7th and Jes Sauereisen (HV) 10th.

U14 Athletes head to Bristol Mountain for a Super G February 10th and 11th while all other athletes will be home to train. Congrats to all of those who qualified and competed at WESG.
