It’s time to sing, dance, relax, wander and be part of something really special! Next weekend brings another way to be part of the nonstop Ellicottville scene — Jazz and Blues Weekend fills the village with three days of incredible live music. And what makes a July weekend of live music even better? Listening to it won’t cost you a penny!

Plan to spend the weekend in Ellicottville July 25-27 for a variety of blues tunes at many of Ellicottville’s fine establishments.

Musical performances will be scattered throughout the village at the Gin Mill, Madigan’s, Balloons, Ellicottville Brewing Company, The Silver Fox Steakhouse and at the outdoor Monroe Street Main Stage, where family-friendly acts will entertain all on the street closed to traffic.

Ellicottville’s Jazz and Blues weekend began in 1998 and has been going strong ever since.

“The event used to take place in May and was all indoors. It has been moved to July within the last five years because the weather is more consistent so the Monroe Street Main Stage could be added for family-friendly outdoor performances,” said Heather Snyder, media and communications coordinator of the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce.

And what can visitors expect from such an event?

“It is a really relaxing, family-friendly weekend event that is completely free,” Snyder said. “There is live music on the Monroe Street Main Stage in the afternoon, both Saturday and Sunday, which gives families the chance to expose their children to a different genre of music.”

Monroe Street Main Stage family-friendly performances include Sol Y Sombra (a Latin jazz ensemble) on Saturday, July 26, from 1–4 p.m., and BLUZEINN (a jazz/blues ensemble) on Sunday, July 27, from 1–4 p.m.

Other entertainment includes the Friday night blues: Speedy Parker Band at the Gin Mill at 9 p.m. and Brandon Santini at Balloons at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, choose from Fredonia Student Modern Jazz Quartet at the EBC Beer Garden 1–4 p.m., Hoagy and the Blues Bombers at Madigan’s 5–9 p.m., B.D. Lenz at Balloons 6–10 p.m., NY Standard Time at The Silver Fox from 7–10 p.m., the Heavenly Chilbillies at the Gin Mill 9 p.m. and Mojo Hand Blues Band at Ellicottville Brewing Company 9 p.m.

On Sunday, the weekend concludes with music at the Monroe Street Stage, as well as at the EBC Beer Garden where the Fredonia Student Modern Jazz Quartet will do their thing.
