HV Mudslide Registration Discount Deadline June 1
By Jann Wiswall
Holiday Valley is the place to be on Saturday, June 20, where running in silly costumes while navigating an intentionally muddy obstacle course is the very definition of fun. And June 1 is the registration deadline for discounted entry fees.
Yup. It’s almost Mudslide Obstacle Trail Run time again and if you’re thinking of signing up, don’t procrastinate. There is a maximum of 1,200 competitors.
The event starts with a free chairlift ride up to Spruce Lake. A 3.5-mile course takes runners across the cross-country trails to the top of Eagle, down Woodstock, across Explorer to Morning Star, through the woods and across Mardi Gras, down Holiday Run to Edelweiss with a mud splattered finish to the Training Center. A 5.4-mile course adds a loop from Eagle to Cindy’s, down a logging road to lower Bear Cub and back uphill to Explorer. This section is so steep that the resort crew will install ropes to help you scramble up!
The final challenge for all racers is the giant mud-slide (imagine a muddy Slip-n’-Slide) down lower Yodeler.
There’s also a kids’ half-mile race (up to age 12) for just $5 which includes that awesome mud-slide finish.
Not a runner? Do it anyway! Walkers can get just as muddy as runners!
Running for the win? Prizes will be awarded to the three fastest male and female finishers. Chip timing and matt starts and finishes will be in place this year.
You may register for the 3.5 mile OR the 5.4 mile route by June 1 for $60. If you can’t make your commitment quite yet, you may register until Friday, June 19 for $80. There is no day-of-race registration except for the kids’ race.
Registration includes a goody bag, cool finisher’s medal, plus a hot dog and two free beverages at the post-race party on the Sundeck Terrace at Yodeler Lodge. Guests can also browse the Vendor Village with appearances by The City Garage, Do-Op Gear, Power Bar, Red Bull and more.
Want to get the fun started early? Pick up your registration packet on Friday, June 19, at the Overlook Terrace and get in on a pre-race party at the Cabana with a chicken and ribs BBQ, music, drink specials, swimming and pool-side activities from 6-8 p.m.
You can also pick up your race packet on Saturday morning from 8-11 a.m. at Yodeler Lodge.
