New Marketing Director Eager to Sell Fun!

“Who doesn’t want the chance to market fun?” asked Stephanie Timblin, HoliMont’s new marketing director, on her fifth day on the job.

Timblin took the reins at HoliMont from Dash Hegeman, who has moved west to join the staff at Taos Ski Valley.

“Coming from the healthcare environment, this couldn’t be more different,” Timblin said, but “it’s a great change and almost an entire lifestyle change given that I now live just three miles from work, which also happens to be in my home town.”

Timblin is, indeed, a local. She graduated from ECS in 1998, worked winters at Holiday Valley, “like so many other kids from here.” She went to St. Bonaventure for a year, and then got hired full-time to work on a local Ellicottville publication where she honed her marketing communications skills.

In 2005, she made a career change to work at the Cattaraugus County Department of Health in the billing department, and later served as a public health preparedness resource specialist, assisting with large-scale emergency drills and coordinating responses to disease outbreaks.

In 2011, Timblin took the job of Senior Communications Specialist in the Marketing Communications Department at Upper Allegany Health System/Olean General Hospital. There she handled media relations, employee communications, social media activities, newsletter and magazine editorial work, event coordination and a host of other responsibilities.

Though she wasn’t really looking for a new job, the marketing post at HoliMont caught her eye just because “there aren’t very many marketing job openings in this area.”

HoliMont General Manager Dave Riley said Timblin made a great impression on HoliMont staff during the interview process.

“We are all about working as a team at HoliMont, and Stephanie fits in very well. We’re excited and encouraged that she’s here,” he said. “We’re going to cut her loose and see what she creates.”

With less than a week under her belt, Timblin says she’s still getting a sense of how things work and what’s been done in the past. But, she’s excited by the fact that the staff is open to new ideas.

“My top priority, of course, is to continue to ensure that our members receive the best value for their membership,” Timblin said. “It’s equally important to focus on employee engagement – recognize employees for their achievements, build camaraderie, keep people informed. That will be an early focus for me here.”

She also expects to expand the resort’s social media presence.

“This is such a great environment to be in,” she said. “Everyone is entirely dedicated to their mission – which is to make sure that everyone who comes here has a wonderful time, now and in the future!”
