2014-15 Season to Begin Friday, November 21
Holiday Valley’s President and General Manager Dennis Eshbaugh announced today that the resort will open at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 21. According to Eshbaugh, “We’ve received more than 20 inches of snow since last Friday and we were able to fire up the snowguns Monday evening. With round-the-clock snowmaking, we’ll be able to open a week earlier than planned. What a great way to start the season!”
The resort plans a “Preview Weekend” with two lifts open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, serving four or more slopes, depending on the natural snowfall and snowmaking progress. There will be terrain available for advanced beginners through advanced skiers and snowboarders. The slopes will then be closed from Monday, November 24 through Thanksgiving Day, and will reopen for the season on Friday, November 28.
The cold weather predicted for the next several days is ideal for Holiday Valley’s automated snowmaking system. This state-of-the-art system includes 200 high efficiency HKD Impulse snowguns that are controlled via computer to turn on and off and adjust to temperature and humidity. Automated snowmaking allows the resort to make more snow and better snow using less energy.
The Rental Shop and High Performance Shops, McCarty Café and ticket sales will be available at the Holiday Valley Lodge. The Marketplace Café, the Devil’s Glen Bar and the Mountain Shop will be open at the Yodeler Lodge. Opening day is also is the beginning of the “2 Ski Free” Promotion at the Slopeside Inn at Holiday Valley where each night booked includes two free lift tickets. This special runs through December 24.
