SALAMANCA — First-half goals by Mandy Hurlburt (assist) and Jocelyn Wyatt lifted Ellicottville over Salamanca, 2-1, Friday in CCAA East division girls soccer.

The Eagles got nine saves from Brooke Eddy in improving to 6-7.

Ryleigh John scored, assisted by Hayli Wilson, and Alexis Palmeri and Holly McGonigle had nine saves each for Salamanca (4-10).

“It was a very physical game,” Warriors coach Michelle Hill said. “Both teams play an aggressive style of soccer, and we had a very sloppy field. Unfortunately, our field doesn’t drain real well. There was a lot of slipping and sliding. We like to play a possession game, and it was tough to do that on the field … but obviously both teams had to deal with the conditions.”
