Capital Campaign Kicks Off June 4

With construction season right around the corner, the Ellicottville-Great Valley Trail (EVGV Trail) Committee has launched its first official capital campaign to help kick-start the construction of approximately 3,000 feet of trail leading from the Town Center on Fillmore Ave. to Tim Horton’s on Route 219. The campaign’s first fundraising event will be a ham, turkey & steak raffle fundraiser on Sunday, June 4 at 1 p.m. at the Ellicottville American Legion Post on Maples Road. Pre-sale tickets for $20 will admit the ticket holder and one guest and entry into 32 cash prize drawings totaling $4,000. Ticket holders are not required to be present to redeem cash prizes.

Entry to win prizes from the ham, turkey & steak raffle will be sold at the event. Beer, soft drinks and snacks are complimentary. A portion of the proceeds will be donated by the EVGV Trail Committee to the Nannen Arboretum Society.

The EVGV Trail is a proposed 15-mile trail network that will link and expand year-round programming and facilities in the Ellicottville/Great Valley region. The multi-use trail system will accommodate families, children, walkers, joggers, inline and ski skaters and others by creating a safe, comfortable and accessible non-motorized transportation and recreation system. The EVGV Trail Committee’s goal is to raise to $500,000 in cash and in-kind contributions for the trail by the end of 2018.

Construction of a trail-head entrance next to the Nannen Arboretum at the Town Center portion of the Trail this past fall is thanks to the hard work of Terry Fuller’s students from the Carpentry & Construction Trade program at the BOCES Center in Ellicottville.
