Community Involvement at Core of Agency’s Goals

When Todd VanDyke joined ERA Team VP as a branch manager of the Ellicottville and Cuba offices last year, one of his biggest goals was to grow these branches, not only from a business perspective but also from a community involvement point of view.

Rebuilding Together is a national, non-profit organization that works with low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly and those with disabilities, to repair their homes and perform minor modifications at no charge.

When the opportunity arose to assemble a team of realtors to help with a local Rebuilding Together for the annual Blitz Day, VanDyke instantly knew it would be a wonderful way to express ERA Team VP’s commitment to homeowners and the regional community, especially those needing a little assistance to stay in their own homes.

His team of professionals deals with buying and selling homes on a daily basis, but Rebuilding Together’s Olean Chapter provided this group with a special way to give back.

VanDyke said, “Rebuilding Together is a great organization with very local ties. Although it is the Olean chapter, they go around the entire area helping those in need doing everything from painting to wheelchair ramps. Seemed like a perfect match for us.”

The ERA team was assigned to a house in Cuba, and on July 26, they went right to work. They spent the day painting, scraping, clearing weeds, landscaping and helping the woman who was no longer able to take care of the property herself.

“Our group from Ellicottville and Cuba was thrilled and it was a really positive team building experience,” commented VanDyke.

VanDyke promises that this will not be an isolated case of lending a helping hand.

“We are focused on being involved with the community in all of our areas of operation and are looking for another project to help with very soon!” he said.
