In Ellicottville youth sports, the EVL wrestling club competed in tournaments over the past weekend with grapplers Zac Clark and Simon Clark finishing undefeated in their weight classes. And Noah Morlock won the championship in the Lockport NY tournament as well and was invited to participate in the NY State Youth Wrestling Dual Team. Congratulations Noah!
In youth basketball, The Ellicottville Spurs 12-13 year old boys team continued their undefeated season at the Olean YMCA, the 10-11 year old Knicks took a close loss to the Olean Magic, but are improving on a weekly basis. The 8-9 year old Spurs are also continuing their winning ways and all the teams will be concluding their seasons this weekend. Next week begins SYA youth basketball and Elllicottville will be fielding teams in multiple divisions. The program is being run by Shana Chudy, Phil Jimmerson and Tim Grinols.
The Ellicottville bowling teams both lost all four matches, but were led by Courtney Scanlan with a 537 Honor Series and Ashley Bognar added an honor game of 160.
The Ellicottville girls JV and Varsity basketball teams had convincing wins over Cattaraugus/Little Valley and Forestville in the past week while the JV girls beat back Pine Valley on Tuesday and the Varsity girls took the loss to a top 10 small school girls basketball team.
The Ellicottville boys teams both finished the week 1-2 with losses to Forestville and Fillmore, but had convincing beat down victory of the Pine Valley Panthers at ECS.
In other sports news, the ECLV little league baseball and softball program is looking for volunteer coaches and umpires and will be having an organizational meeting in the coming weeks. Sign up will also be taking place in the months of February and March with the season beginning in April.
