The Ellicottville Fire Department held its annual installation banquet on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Chief Ed Fredrickson reported that the fire department responded to 173 fire calls in 2018. This included 10 structure fires, 34 motor vehicle accidents, three vehicle fires, 35 false alarms, 50 hazards and 10 landing zones for Mercy Flight.

The company also had 50 work sessions.

Chief Fredrickson also mentioned that the company purchased new turnout gear, extrication tools and new tanker.

Chief Dan Kruszynski reported that the Ellicottville/Great Valley Ambulance transported 340 patients, did 50 standbys and 10 Mercy Flights. They treated 92 patients on scene and have four new monitors.

The top 3 responders for the Ambulance were Scott Cant, Kelly Hesse and Rob Germain.

Three 5-year service awards were given to Terri Carlson, Rick Jackson and Glenda Jackson. A 30-year award was presented to Ed Fredrickson.

The Ellicottville Fire Department would like to extend a big thank you to the local businesses and residents who contributed to the installation banquet by donating some wonderful door prizes for our volunteers and their families.

The Ellicottville Fire Department is still accepting applications for new members for fire service or ambulance service. Volunteers are the glue that hold the community together.
