Congressman Tom Reed (NY-23) made a stop in Ellicottville on Aug. 23 to take a look at local business and building projects, and to talk about the area’s development boom.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase Ellicottville and share what we truly are,” said Ellicottville Town Supervisor John Burrell.

The group gathered at Holiday Valley for a meet-and-greet, then boarded a bus to tour the Ellicottville area. Sites toured and projects highlighted included Holiday Valley’s Sky High Adventure Park and golf course, ECS’ building capital project, Ellicottville-Great Valley Trail, reuse of the 1887 Building and the Village Square (four corners), HoliMont’s Ski Club and WestMont Ridge development, Ellicottville Memorial Public Library, Nannen Arboretum, Ellicottville Fire Station, Town Center, Ellicottville Square to see the reuse of the old Louisville Slugger bat factory, East Tank Project (joint village/town water capital project), Towns of Mansfield and Ellicottville’s shared services, the town highway site reuse by Tim Hortons, the Village Center commercial plaza, The Wingate hotel, Fitzpatrick & Weller, the former American Locker Plant site, Ellicottville Brewing Company, Balloon’s restaurant, Dina’s restaurant, the former Signore site and the Jefferson Street Cemetery.

Congressman Reed was accompanied by Town of Ellicottville Supervisor John Burrell, Town of Mansfield Supervisor Robert Keis, Holiday Valley President and General Manager Dennis Eshbaugh, Holiday Valley Director of Marketing Jane Eshbaugh, HoliMont General Manager David Riley, Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Brian McFadden, Pengilly Corp. owner John Northrup, Fitzpatrick & Weller Inc. Chairman Dana Fitzpatrick, Ellicottville Brewing Company owner Peter Kreinheder, Town of Ellicottville Councilman Steve Crowley and Ellicottville Central School Superintendent Mark Ward, as well as Reed’s sister Mary Kaysa, his campaign manager Seth Wimer, communications director Katie Pudwell and congressional district director Joe Sempolinski.
