The Allegany State Park Historical Society is proud to present Edna Northrup as its latest guest speaker Saturday, March 16.
The presentation will be held at 1 p.m. at Allegany State Park’s “Camp Allegany” classroom building, located past Red House Lake off of ASP Route 2, near the new Bova Cottages.
Along with Lillian Congdon, Northrup co-wrote the coffee table book “For The Love of Skiing: Our Story of Skiing in Ellicottville,” which also covers skiing at Allegany State Park.
Northrup was once interviewed by Oprah Winfrey on her TV for climbing to the Base Camp at Mt. Everest at 84 years old. She told Winfrey that “it was something I always wished to accomplish.”
Northrup’s children include bestselling author Dr. Christiane Northrup and former Olympic Skier Penny Northrup.
