Midget & Pee Wee Eagles Head to Super Bowl

The Ellicottville Midgets avenged their only loss of the season with a 15-0 victory over the Salamanca Sabers on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Allegany. The Eagles were led by Jordan Grinols, Clayton Rowland and Wyatt Chudy in the backfield, who were able to run the ball at will and consume chunks of time off the clock. Jordan Peplinski and Niklas Logel led the defense and contained everything the Sabers threw at them.

The Midget Eagles take on Allegany this Saturday during the Super Bowl at Catt/LV Central School at 5 p.m.

On Oct. 18, the Ellicottville Pee Wee Eagles beat the Salamanca Pee Wee Sabers on a cold, snowy Sunday in Randolph by a score of 31-26. The Eagles were led by Braylon and Caedon Wyatt in the backfield and accounted for all of the Eagles scoring. The Defense was led by Koda Seibert, Owen Chudy and Giancarlo Nuzzo.

The Pee Wee Eagles also advance to the Super Bowl on Saturday at Catt/LV at 3 p.m. against the Randolph Pee Wee Raiders.

Girls Varsity Soccer

On Oct. 13 vs. Catt/LV, the Ellicottville Girls Varsity Soccer team won 4-0. Lauren Olejniczak had one goal, Morgan Zlockie had three goals and one assist and Jenna Aldrich had an assist.  Freshman goalie Robin Freaney had seven saves for the shutout.

On Oct. 15 vs. Portville, the Eagles again won 4-0. Zlockie had three goals and Shelby Toth had one goal as Freaney made three saves for back-to-back shutouts. The Eagles League record stands at 10-2 (12-4 overall).

The Eagles move on to the Section 6 Class D playoffs semi-final game vs. Franklinville on Saturday, Oct. 24 at noon at Pioneer High School.

Boys Varsity Soccer

The Eagles Boys Varsity Soccer last week lost to Salamanca/CLV 2-0, but came back on senior night (Oct. 16) to beat Portville 4-0. Cam Eddy, Robert Sawicki, Jack Haley and Nick DiDonato scored. The Boys Varsity Soccer Eagles finished the season with a record of 10-4-2.

Next action is at Pioneer High School vs Franklinville on Saturday at 2:30.

The Franklinville/Ellicottville Titans completed their regular season on senior night and Homecoming with a resounding 48-0 win over Salamanca Warriors.

The Titans put up 348 total yards of offense, compared to 74 total yards for Salamanca. The Senior backfield of Jonas Hurlburt (six carries for 93 yards and one touchdown) and Caleb Rinko (11 carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns) led the Titans offense. Senior Tommy Easton and Sophomore Deric Leiper each had a rushing touchdown as well.

On defense, Will Bays had seven tackles and one sack, Brock Blecha had 6.5 tackles, Preston Hutchison had 5.5 tackles and one sack, while Sophomores Dakota Olson, Evan Palmatier and Hunter O’Stricker chipped in defensively for the Titans. Sophomore Austin Grinols had five punt returns for 99 yards on the night as well.

The Titans have a bye this weekend and await their semifinal opponent on Oct. 30 in Franklinville.
