If you’re looking to get back to a more traditional sense of the Christmas season, there’s no place better to visit than the Village of Ellicottville. At this time of year, the charming town looks and feels like everybody’s idea of a beautiful Christmas scene with its stunningly decorated store fronts and tree-lit lined streets.

This Saturday, Dec. 5, the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its 28th annual Christmas Stroll, a heartwarming tradition that features a one-of-a-kind reindog parade down Washington Street and a living Nativity reenactment with actors in full costume and some very special critters, including a live camel, playing their roles.

The whole family will also enjoy a Christmas Bazaar, organ music and ornament making at the United Methodist Church on Elizabeth Street. There are free, fresh-baked cookies made by Mrs. Claus at Katy’s Café. And, get ready to play a holiday scavenger hunt at participating businesses throughout the village during the Ellicottville Goodie Hunt. You might just win a pretty special prize. Pick up your game forms at participating businesses.

Of course, the area’s boutiques, ski and board shops and restaurants will be open all weekend to woo you with special offers to help you finish your Christmas shopping and fill your tummies.

And if you need a little extra exercise during your visit, we encourage you to do a snow dance!

Get to Know Ellicottville Through a Goodie Hunt

Do you know what an Ilex is, or where you can find it? How about the Wizard? Can you find him? If you can do this and a few other things in Ellicottville, you may be eligible to win some prizes! It’s all a part of the EVL Goodie Hunt, from the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce.

The hunt is on from noon until 4 p.m. on Dec. 5, the same day as the Ellicottville Christmas Stroll.

“The Christmas Season is about spending time with family and friends,” Barbara Pump, Membership and Events Coordinator with the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, said. “Why not add to that excitement and spend some time taking part in Ellicottville’s first Goodie Hunt. See what Ellicottville has to offer by completing a task at each participating business. Each task or clue has been carefully prepared for everyone’s enjoyment. Prizes will be given to the top three winners who have completed the most items on the list.”

About 25 merchants throughout Ellicottville will be taking part, and all of them will have your Hunt Sheets available to give you your chance to win Summer Music Festival tickets (performers to be announced), art by local artists, and gift certificates.
