Escape the hustle and bustle of a Black Friday Christmas Season and relax with an old-fashioned Christmas in Ellicottville, Nov. 25-27. The event, presented by Wingate by Wyndham and Sysco, and produced by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, is a great way to start the post-Thanksgiving Holiday Season without the rush of a big box Christmas.

Whether looking for a romantic way to spend the day or to get the young ones into the holiday spirit, you’ll find it in Ellicottville. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride, sponsored by the Law Offices of John Nelson and Peters & Moriarty, or even just take a stroll through the village that has been compared to a Norman Rockwell painting. Hop on a firetruck with Santa and take a ride, sponsored by HoganWillig. Head over to RealtyUSA for gingerbread construction or have your picture taken at the Dekdebruns Face Place stations. With the help of great merchants like Ameri-Can sponsoring the weekend, it all happens here.

As a part of the Christmas in Ellicottville celebration, our businesses will be decorated in the theme of Christmas Light, to tie in with the new street lighting in the village. The creative minds of our merchants are sure to build an atmosphere of holiday joy and jubilation. All of them are vying for a prize. Visitors could also receive a prize. Please note there will be no goody hunt as noted in last week’s article about this event.

As the month of November ends and December starts, the Christmas spirit in Ellicottville continues. On Dec. 2, an event meant to help those that are less fortunate takes place at Ellicottville Brewing Company. The Ellicottville Rotary Club has a live auction to benefit the purchase of gifts and meals to make the Christmas season perfect for all the children of the area with festivities getting under way at 6 p.m. Over the course of the day, a wagon will sit outside the brewery for people to drop off donations of new, unwrapped gifts for those in need.

On Dec. 3, come out to see the living Nativity as it parades through the village, complete with a real camel! At 9 a.m., the United Methodist Church on Elizabeth Street will host a Christmas Bazaar. From 3:30 to 5, St. John’s Episcopal Church will host organ music, tours and ornament-making. At 4, Santa and his elves will arrive in the village while Mrs. Claus has cookies at Katy’s Café. The annual Reindog parade will be at 4:15 and the Living Nativity will start at 6 p.m.

Everyone is welcome at the annual Ellicottville Christmas Party, produced by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce! The holiday bash takes place Dec. 9 at Ellicottville Brewing Company! Come and celebrate with our business owners, our winter seasons home owners and locals for a night of food, music and fun in the holiday spirit.
