Give Dad a memorable Father’s Day this year by taking part in any one of the great activities taking place this weekend in Cattaraugus County. Whether you’re looking for an outdoor adventure, a leisurely afternoon on the golf course, or a relaxing evening of local theater, there’s something fun for the whole family to enjoy (not just Dad!).

How about an aerial adventure?  Holiday Valley’s Aerial Park at Sky High is a series of platforms and bridges that are connected by zip lines in the woods near Tannenbaum Lodge. With 13 courses to choose from, you’re sure to enjoy just the right challenge up in the trees, whether this is your first time zip lining or you’re a seasoned pro. The Aerial Park is the largest in New York State and the third largest in the country, with 142 platforms and 43 zip lines! See the fun for yourself by visiting, where you can make a reservation and watch the Sky High videos.

Speaking of outdoor adventures, nearby Allegany State Park is hosting one of the largest cycling competitions in Western New York: The Raccoon Rally on both Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18. The whole family can take part in this event; Saturday’s events kick off with the Grand Fondo Road Race/Tour which involves laps around Red House Lake, and Sunday’s Cross Country Mountain Bike Race takes place on the Art Roscoe Trail System. No matter what your level of experience, there’s a race and category for you: Beginner, Sport, and Expert classes compete for prizes in several age groups. For more information, email
