This year’s Cantata is “The Heart of Christmas” by Pepper Choplin. In his Cantata preface, Choplin stated, “With open hearts, may we immerse ourselves in the (Christmas) story. For if we truly behold the Lord and embrace the love sent down to earth, we will go away renewed and filled with a Spirit of joy.”

The 35-member Community Cantata Choir will giving two performances this Sunday, Dec. 18: at 3 p.m. at the First United Congregational Church on 134 Broad Street in Salamanca, and at 7 p.m. at the Holy Name of Mary Church on 22 Jefferson Street in Ellicottville.

This is the culmination of seven weeks of Sunday afternoon rehearsals, just to bring this gift of beautiful choral music to the communities of Salamanca and Ellicottville.

“All is ready, and now we just need an audience to sing our hearts out to,” stated Annette Ieda, the group’s director. “Come, enjoy an hour with us, share some singing, share some food, give a monetary donation to the local food banks and return home filled with the true meaning of Christmas.”
