Camp Turner, located in Allegany State Park, is hiring cooks and camp counselors for the summer of 2014. We hire teachers, college students, high school students and persons with certifications such as RN, EMT, First Aid, CPR, Lifeguard, PSI, Bow Hunter Safety, Horseback Riding, Serve-Safe, Pro-start, babysitting and bus driving (CDL).

Counselors live and work with children ages 7-16. Successful candidates will have abundant common sense, a desire to live in community and a calling to work with children in the out of doors. Duties include creating a healthy community, keeping campers safe and teaching activities. Openings include cabin counselors, arts and crafts, archery, horseback riding, low ropes, nature, hiking and orienteering.

Cooks should be well versed in food service safety and sanitation. Experience in cooking for large groups is helpful. Cooks provide complete food service, from receiving food through preparation, to cleanup and sanitizing. Some optional weekend catering throughout the rest of the year is also possible.

Camp Turner is a non-profit 501(c)(3) operated by the Diocese of Buffalo. All staff must pass drug screening and a criminal background check.

Staff live on-site in Allegany State Park, about 75 minutes south of Hamburg, N.Y. Employment runs June 27–Aug. 17 with weekends off. Salary scale is competitive. Training is provided.
