Brew Master’s ‘Circe de Bières’ Dinner November 7

By Alicia Dziak

Beer, wine, hard cider, local fare and unique dishes — you’ll find it all at the 11th annual Beer and Wine Festival on Nov. 8.

The festival, hosted by Holiday Valley, Ellicottville Brewing Company and Southern Tier Brewery, will take place at Holiday Valley on Saturday afternoon.

The weekend kicks off with the Friday, Nov. 7 Brew Master’s Dinner with a Cirque de Bière theme at Holiday Valley Lodge.

The evening will feature combinations of nationally recognized craft beers with seasonally focused cuisine, and brewers will be on hand to discuss each beer with you and explain the pairing decisions. Chefs will create locally sourced dishes you’re sure to love, especially if you are adventurous and enjoy tasting interesting foods.

“Almost everything on the menu has beer as an ingredient, even the dessert!” said Jane Eshbaugh, Holiday Valley’s marketing director. “There are some unusual dishes featuring wild game and venison and lots of hearty cold weather comfort foods. The food is served at stations, so you pick where you want to go. Each station has a special beer and the brewer of that beer will be there to discuss the pairing.”

Menu highlights include wild game sausages finished with blueberries, potato pancakes, autumn chowder and beer floats. And this year’s theme makes it even more fun.

“The theme this year is ‘Cirque de Biere’ and we’ll have several unusual circus surprises,” explained Jane Eshbaugh, Holiday Valley’s marketing director. “The ‘god of beer’ will perform a traditional tapping of the keg just as the diners enter the dining room. The ‘ringleader’ will introduce each station and entertain the diners through the evening. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so I’ll leave it at that!”

An “unusual photo booth” will also be on hand for all those photo ops.

The night begins with hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m. and food stations will open at 7 p.m. Tickets for the Brew Master’s Dinner are $65, with a limited supply still available. To purchase, visit
