It’s a Friday in July. Oh what to do? You should head out to Allegany State Park as they “Rock the Park” for the 5th year in a row! This year’s event takes place on July 22 at its new home at the Quaker Beach area.

The day kicks off at 3 p.m. with a local vendor showcase. Various merchants and organizations will be on hand to acquaint park patrons and local residents about the many great things that are available to them in the surrounding area.

At 5 p.m., park naturalists will host an “Ask the Naturalist” program in the brand new Quaker Bath House. It will feature several interactive nature displays. Have a nature-related question? Stop by and “Ask the Naturalist!”

Also starting at 5 p.m., the snack bar will be open and there will also be a chicken barbeque available for patrons to enjoy.

At 6 p.m., it’s time to “Rock the Park” starting with Allegany’s own Artist in Residence Sean Patrick McGraw. McGraw, a Western New York native, gained national recognition as a semi-finalist on USA Network’s Nashville Star. He continues to perform and write songs that have been recorded by major country artists like Montgomery Gentry. He has also written songs for television shows such as HBO’s True Blood and Sons of Anarchy.

McGraw will be followed by headliners The Roadhouse Rebels. An outstanding group of musicians, The Roadhouse Rebels have headlined many local events, opened for former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle, and have been nominated Best Blues Crossover Band at the Buffalo Night Life Music Awards multiple years. They are dedicated to bringing you the Southern Rock and Blues you love! The Roadhouse Rebels will be rocking the stage from 7:30-9:30 p.m. So come spend the day at the Quaker Beach area checking out what area businesses and organizations have to offer and listening to some great music!
