Two years ago, Shannon Carscallan, proprietor of E-Ville Spirits & Wines in Ellicottville, N.Y, did a fundraiser featuring food and wines of Argentina. Along with a silent auction and 50-50 raffle, Shannon raised over $1,000, which she donated to a local food pantry, helping many area single parents and families who need a boost. This year’s event will benefit the Ellicottville Food Pantry.

Having been to South Africa, tasting the wines of the region, Shannon also had the opportunity to visit the cell where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner. With his passing this year, she wanted to honor his memory and many accomplishments by offering the food and wines from South Africa in this year’s fundraiser.

Shannon has given back to the community by the many events she supports and has supported in the past, and running one of her own fundraisers makes it that much more gratifying.

Shannon invites you to attend the South African Braais (BBQ) on Saturday, Sept. 13, 5–8 p.m. at the Ellicottville Town Center (next to the Nannen Arboretum). The event includes cheeses, grilled meats (babotie) and vegetables (rusks).

This educational seminar is an invitation-only fundraiser for the Ellicottville Food Pantry, and tickets are $40 per person or $75 per couple. Volunteers are needed to help with the event. Your time is greatly appreciated. To get your invitation or volunteer, please call (716) 699-4474 or e-mail by Sept. 6.
