The annual Ellicottville Christmas Stroll will take place in the village again this Saturday, Dec. 7.

This holiday event cherished here for three decades returns for its 32nd year for a day of activities, live Nativity and even a real camel.

The Christmas Stroll was created in 1987 by a group of citizens who wanted to organize such an event in the village.

After brainstorming over coffee, it was decided that they wanted a live nativity scene with children dressed as angels and shepherds, who walked around the village and met at the gazebo.

From 4 to 5:30 p.m., Santa and his elves arrive at Villaggio to greet all the good girls and boys, while Katy’s Café will have delicious Christmas cookies for all those who stop by.

Throughout the day, elves will be circulating the village with candy while a horse-drawn carriage will be around to take you through the magic of the village and you will even see a live camel enjoying the winter scene!

At 4:30 p.m., don’t miss an unparalleled spectacle take over the village as pet owners bring their pride and joys, dressed in their season’s best, for the annual Rein Dog Parade making its way up and down Washington Street.

The Ellicottville Central School Band will play at 5:30 p.m. at the Village Gazebo, and the Ellicottville High School jazz choir will be singing for the pageant.

The evening comes to a conclusion with a living Nativity. The local children of Ellicottville, as well as a live camel, the three wise men complete with a donkey and a few other surprises, use the village to tell the story of that first Christmas.

The procession begins at 6 p.m. and walks through the village ending at the gazebo, where the pageant will end with the children of the village singing and reciting the story of the living nativity.

The Christmas Stroll is an old-fashioned holiday celebration to remember, so don’t miss the opportunity to see one of Ellicottville’s most beloved traditions to ring in the season.
