Some 750 elementary, middle and high school students from the Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES and District Special Education classes, along with 300 volunteers, participated in the 10th annual Winter Carnival on March 3 and 4 at the Holiday Valley Tubing Park.

Students from Olean, Portville and Ellicottville BOCES classrooms, as well as non-BOCES special education students from Allegany, Limestone, Olean, Portville, Ellicottville, West Valley and Bolivar-Richburg enjoyed the carnival on Tuesday, March 3. The next day, BOCES students from Allegany County, Franklinville, Catt-LV and Pioneer, and non-BOCES students from Catt-LV, Fillmore, Randolph, Pioneer, Salamanca, Genesee Valley and Wellsville had a blast in the snow.

Event coordinators Chris McNell and Debbie Golley organized tubing, snow soccer, an obstacle course, broom hockey as well as indoor games. Hayrides were made available courtesy of Pumpkinville, and BOCES and Holiday Valley hosted a hot dog roast with cookies and hot chocolate for all participants. The Big Pig from WPIG was on hand both days.
